Kidney Fern (Hymenophyllum nephrophyllum) Rangitoto Island, New Zealand

The kidney shaped fronds of kopakopa will tightly curl up to preserve moisture when there is not enough rain.

Only found in New Zealand, I am called kopakopa by the Māori because I wrap my leaves to survive dry seasons.
Don't be surprised if you see nothing but me in the volcanic rock regions.
