Flowering Dogwood (Cornus florida)  at San Francisco Botanical Garden

The "petals" of dogwoods are actually bracts, with the true tiny flowers clustered in the center.

White, pink, or red, I am ubiquitous in almost all American gardens.
My burning red foliage is an excellent match to the golden aspens in the autumn.
