Banksia at San Francisco Botanical Garden

A heavy producer of nectar, Banksia is important to the food chain in Australian bushes.

An australian genus, I am easily recognized by the striking cones of thousand flowers.
Only few of them yield fruits, and they would not open until bushfires.
